Just got a call from a woman who just couldn’t handle her mother’s need to be supervised 24 hours a day.

The question is, is truly necessary and what are some creative solutions we can come up with to allow mom to stay at home.

I saw Julia and Julie last night…so much about the value of information through blogs. We want you to know that our concierge service is now open for probably 5 new clients. We would love to meet your loved one to enhance their lives while giving you a break from doing chores instead of just visiting with them. Call us or email. We are here to help.

By the way visited a client this morning who asked to see the movie Julia and Julie this weekend. It will inspire more blogs!

Using a concierge to transport a client from the hospital to a nursing home and then following up with that client when released to go home will minimalize readmissions.

We have found that the earlier we intervene with a client with memory loss the better. Employing a concierge assures that the client will delay future losses while assuring that the client will become accustomed to assistance.

Importance of Bridge

A new client of ours is living in a residence designed for persons 62 and older. This gentleman does not interact with the other residents. We are spending a couple of hours per week teaching him to play bridge. Its lots of fun, we find out things about each other we didn’t know before, and he is just about ready to say yes next time someone there asks him to play.

And of course, bridge is wonderful to force concentration and reasoning.

The new transitions: cost effective and kind

Some families, hospital discharge planners and nursing homes are solving two problems with one solution. Transferring an older person from care setting to another care setting or just back home can be done in a cost effective manner while assuring a person to person contact that takes the fear and frustration out of the move.

We have been asked to drive clients from hospitals to nursing homes instead of putting the individual in an ambulance or van. The ride is less expensive, either to the home or to the government payor and the client is met by a trained concierge who makes the process familiar instead of fearful.

We applaud Highline Care Center in Denver and Rose Medical Center for being so forward thinking.
